Lost in the Jungle, a gripping new documentary from National Geographic, tells the miraculous true story of four Indigenous siblings—aged 13, 9, 5, and 11 months—who survived 40 harrowing days alone in the Colombian rainforest. The children were stranded following a fatal plane crash on May 1, 2023, which claimed the lives of their mother and the pilot. The film chronicles their survival and the dramatic rescue led by Colombian military forces in tandem with Indigenous trackers, unfolding as an emotionally intense race against time to bring them home safely. The trailer has just been released in anticipation of the feature’s world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival.
Directed and produced by acclaimed filmmakers Chai Vasarhelyi (“Free Solo,” “The Rescue”), Jimmy Chin, and Colombian Emmy and BAFTA-winning director Juan Camilo Cruz, Lost in the Jungle presents the story directly through the voices of the children and their rescuers. The film is produced in collaboration with Lightbox, Pacha Films, Little Monster Films, and Jaguar Bite, which provided key production services in Colombia. Following its Telluride debut (August 29–September 1, 2025), the documentary will air on National Geographic on September 12 and be available for streaming globally on Disney+ starting September 13, 2025.
