Korean Crime Thriller "Bogotá: City of the Lost" Finds Global Success on Netflix

BOGOTA: CITY OF THE LOST

The South Korean crime thriller "Bogotá: City of the Lost" has achieved significant global success after its release on Netflix. The film, originally a theatrical release that garnered $2.7 million, quickly climbed to the No. 1 spot on Netflix's most-watched non-English movies during the week of February 3-9, 2025, accumulating an impressive 23.1 million viewing hours. The movie also reached the Top 10 in 73 territories and secured the No. 1 position in 10 countries, including South Korea and Colombia.

"Bogotá: City of the Lost" tells the story of a young man who moves to Colombia with his family seeking a better life, only to find himself navigating the harsh realities of living hand-to-mouth. He eventually rises against the odds to dominate Bogotá's black market. The film, produced by Megabox Plus M, Watermelon Pictures, and Idioplan, was filmed on location in Bogotá, taking advantage of Colombia's attractive fiscal incentives for foreign productions.

Notably, the Colombian film production company Jaguar Bite provided production services for the movie. With a production team consisting of 65 Koreans and 200 Colombians, the filming process in Bogotá spanned 75 days. Jaguar Bite continues to expand its presence in the Latin American market, developing original content and providing production services for international studios. The success of "Bogotá: City of the Lost" on Netflix underscores the growing global appeal of Korean cinema and the increasing importance of Colombia as a filming location, supported by companies like Jaguar Bite.
