After 16 years of pursuing the dream of making this film, producer John Martinez O’Felan did it in Colombia with a Colombian crew. Directed by Miguel Bardem, starring by Ana Villafañe, James Franco, Mia Maestro, and Alanna de la Rosa, “Alina Of Cuba” tells the story of Alina Fernandez, Fidel Castro’s daughter who escaped to exile in the ’90s and grew up in Cuba under the shadow of her omnipresent father. Colombian Heads of Department included Director of Photography Juan Carlos Gil, Production Designer Carlos Osorio, Costume Designer Daniela Rivano, and Editor Diego Fernando Bustamante. Along with Martinez O’felan, producers are Allen Gilmer and Joe Lamy. Jaguar Bite’s Simón Beltrán and Juan Pablo Solano are executive producers.
The project is a beneficiary of the Proimagenes Colombia incentive for shooting in Colombia.
